How does the Creative Process Work

Our creativity may be dependent on the way we process information and the way we think. Some of us need to see many examples of something artistic before we can put those items together in an unusual way. Or seeing a great color combination or great shape could possibly be the "spring board" that helps us arrive at an artistic destination. Lots of information about a specific subject may also begin the process that allows us to put that information together in a creative way. We also have in our repertoire a knowledge of design principles that guide our choices as we create an artistic expression. The are artists who "problem solve" in a different way. Ideas may come from the media they are working in. The ideas come from the process itself. They can feel the media giving them direction and inspiration. One step leads to another as an artistic piece is created. Knowing how we individually process information and problem solve, help us to be more successful when involved in the creative process.
